BIKiNNOV attends the world's largest two-wheel conference
From May 9 to 12, Velo-City 2023, the world’s largest conference dedicated to the bicycle sector, was held in Leipzig, Germany, where BIKiNNOV was present under the Technology and Innovation Center’s Core Funding Program, the National Innovation Agency’s (ANI) Interface Mission, funded by the European Union’s (EU) Recovery and Resilience Program (RRP) and NextGeneration Fund.
Velo-city 2023 discussed the global challenges surrounding the promotion of bicycle use, with cargo-bikes emerging as a trend for the near future.
Cargo-bikes, especially those with electric support, are increasingly becoming the solution for family commuting and distribution, especially in urban centers.
The “City in 15 minutes” concept is the new paradigm for combating climate change and continuing to live in good conditions in cities. It advocates the concept of “proximity” rather than the concept of “mobility”, as a way of reducing the distances we travel and when we have to do it, let it be by soft means – walking or cycling.
The city of Leipzig is geared towards people and cycling and is an example of good practice at an European level.
The aim of BIKiNNOV’s participation was to: establish contacts in order to start publicizing the existence of the STI dedicated to two-wheeled vehicles, to create a network of contacts; map good practices; and identify mobility trends in cities.
