Collaboration between BIKiNNOV and the University of Aveiro
On November 18, BIKiNNOV received Flattie, the innovative cork helmet developed by a group of students from the University of Aveiro, in its laboratory to carry out shock absorption tests.
This helmet was one of the big winners of the 8th edition of the Born from Knowledge Ideas (BFK Ideas) 2023 program, promoted by the National Innovation Agency (ANI), where BIKiNNOV was present as one of the members of the competition jury. It was also the winner of the “Bike Award” 2023, awarded by the National Association of the Two-Wheel, Hardware, Furniture and Complementary Activities Industries of the Sectors Represented (ABIMOTA) for the most innovative product in the context of urban mobility on two wheels, and also received The James Dyson Award.
The Flattie was awarded for being a sustainable and practical solution for urban mobility, with a foldable design that makes it easy to carry in backpacks, making it ideal for users of electric scooters.
This collaboration with the University of Aveiro is a way of creating synergies between research centers and universities. Working together not only allows products like the Flattie to advance, but also contributes to the development of more sustainable and safer solutions in the mobility sector.
Through our testing infrastructure and technical support, BIKINNOV provides an environment conducive to experimenting with and validating innovative ideas such as Flattie, which have the potential to redefine the way we move around cities.
BIKiNNOV believes that partnerships of this nature are a way of creating networks. BIKINNOV’s participation falls within the scope of Action Line 5 – Promotion and Networks of the Interface Mission – Core Funding for Technology and Innovation Centers, of the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR), financed by NextGenerationEU European Funds.
